River Forest Country Club is what I would describe as a classic 1920's parkland golf course. Designed by Frank P. McDonald in 1926 and modified in 1935 after a visit from world-renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast. The immaculately maintained fairways are tree-lined with numerous water hazards throughout the course. The green complexes are small in size with most greens sloping from back to front. This was a very common practice of green building during that era as modern drainage had not yet been developed. Our typical "in season" green speeds average between 11.5 and 12 on the Stimpmeter and RFCC is known to have some of the best putting surfaces in all of Chicagoland! Just a few years ago, the club invested in new bunkers and installed the Better Billy Bunker liner system and Pro Angle sand. The golf experience can also be furthered within our practice facilities which include: a long range, two short game areas, practice bunker and a putting green. The golf amenities at River Forest are truly first class and appeal to all levels of golfers. I am sure you will enjoy your golfing experience at RFCC!
